Families in Telangana are searching for answers after eight men went missing while working in Oman, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. These individuals traveled on tourist visas to work various jobs and have stopped talking to their families.

The missing men include Mohammed Sileman, 24, from Cheguntla, Medak, who disappeared in Oman in mid-June after telling his wife, Saida, he was visiting a beach.
Other missing individuals are Alleswarapu Ramesh of Jagtial, missing from the UAE since June 16; Malut Kotaiah of Kamareddy, who vanished after June 30 in Saudi Arabia; and Bhukya Srikanth of Mallapur, Jagtial, last heard from on June 7 while working near the LuLu Hypermarket in Baniyas, Dubai.
Families have sought help from the Pravasi Prajavani cell, which is Telangana's grievance window for Gulf migrants, and Indian missions.
Liaison officer Bhargavi N. confirmed that embassy paperwork has not yet resulted in locating the missing persons.
In some cases, such as with Alleswarapu Ramesh, initial reports from an embassy suggested a return to India, but the trail subsequently went cold.
Bhukya Srikanth's father, who is currently in Dubai, remains unable to conduct a search due to his own restricted visa status.
These disappearances happen against a backdrop of ongoing labor issues in the Gulf.
According to Ministry of External Affairs data, more than 800 Indian workplace deaths were recorded in the region between 2023 and 2025, with Saudi Arabia reporting 182 and the UAE reporting 128.
Regional volatility also persists, with Houthi strikes on September 15 in Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif, Saudi Arabia, injuring 13 civilians.
These areas fall under the Jeddah Consulate’s jurisdiction, which oversees a portion of the 27.48 lakh Indian nationals residing in Saudi Arabia as of March 2026.

Families of the missing have urged anyone with information regarding Mohammed Sileman, Alleswarapu Ramesh, Malut Kotaiah, or Bhukya Srikanth to contact the Pravasi Prajavani office in Telangana or Indian missions in Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, or Jeddah.
The reported incidents have highlighted the risks associated with migrant labor conducted on tourist visas and the difficulties families face in navigating international bureaucratic systems to locate missing relatives.
