Shocking: Eight Telangana Workers Missing in Gulf Countries Leave Families Desperate
At least eight men from Telangana have gone missing while working in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, leaving their families in distress. Individual Missing Cases
Mohammed Sileman, 24, from Cheguntla in Medak, traveled to Oman in June on a tourist visa to work as a cleaner. His wife, Saida, stated he went silent four days after arrival, last mentioning a trip to a beach with roommates. The recruiting agent claims no responsibility, and his roommates report having no information on his whereabouts.
Alleswarapu Ramesh of Jagtial has been missing from the UAE since 16 June. His wife, Sunitha, petitioned state authorities to help locate him. Although Pravasi Prajavani officials received communication from an embassy suggesting he was being sent back to India, the trail has since gone cold.
Malut Kotaiah of Kamareddy, who traveled to Saudi Arabia for work at a human-resources firm, has been missing since 30 June. Meanwhile, Bhukya Srikanth of Mallapur, Jagtial, who worked near Lulu Hypermarket in Baniyas, Dubai, has not been seen since 7 June. His mother, Sunitha, noted that his manager has provided no information, and his father, who is also in Dubai, is restricted from moving freely due to ongoing visa renewal processes.
Family Demands and Systemic Issues
Pravasi Prajavani, Telangana’s dedicated platform for Gulf workers, confirmed that eight families have sought assistance. Liaison officer Bhargavi N stated that families remain extremely worried and clueless regarding the fate of their kin. Families are demanding confirmation of the men's status—whether in detention, hospitalized, or deceased—as well as direct contact with sponsors or employers and a dedicated point of contact within Indian diplomatic missions.
These disappearances highlight systemic issues including the use of tourist visas for employment, the vanishing of recruiting agents, and bureaucratic hurdles in navigating foreign labor laws. Affected families reside in regions including Medak, Jagtial, and Kamareddy, continuing to await information as of mid-September 2026.
