This policy change specifically addresses the stamping process and does not alter existing immigration requirements. Using E-Gates and Travel Documents
For passengers utilizing the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), e-boarding passes may now be used at designated e-gates, further digitizing the departure process for eligible frequent travelers. However, enrollment in FTI-TTP remains subject to separate eligibility criteria. Authorities clarified that this change applies only to boarding pass stamping and does not constitute a broader removal of exit stamping on passports. Travelers must continue to carry their original passports and all applicable travel documents. Indian residents returning to Gulf nations—such as those holding Emirates ID in the UAE, Iqama in Saudi Arabia, or other residency permits in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain—are advised to ensure their documents remain valid, as digital verification systems will still check for expiry. Tourists and visit visa holders must continue to carry proof of return or onward tickets and accommodation details. The Bureau of Immigration suggests that passengers store e-boarding passes offline or as wallet copies to avoid connectivity issues at airports, noting that while printed copies are now optional, travelers should consult specific airline advisories regarding their operational requirements.
