Kuwait Police Arrest 246 People in Major Residency Law Crackdown
Kuwait Ministry of Interior has intensified security operations targeting residency, labor, and absconding violations. According to information released late on August 25, authorities arrested a total of 246 individuals during separate enforcement campaigns in the Capital Governorate and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.

Capital Governorate Operation Details
In the Capital Governorate, 201 individuals were apprehended. Among them, 187 were wanted for criminal cases, absconding cases, residency violations, and labor violations. The operation also targeted individuals with expired visas, those found without identification documents, street vendors, and beggars. During this specific operation, officials recorded 445 traffic violations, impounded 23 vehicles and 10 motorcycles wanted for legal proceedings, removed 19 abandoned vehicles, and ordered the closure of one restaurant.
Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Arrests
A separate operation in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh resulted in the arrest of 45 people. Of these, 36 were wanted in connection with absconding cases. The remaining 9 individuals were processed for various offenses, including the theft of items such as cables, copper, iron, and car exhaust parts. Additionally, authorities reported that two individuals were found in possession of suspected narcotics.
Previous Campaigns and Advice for Expatriates
These recent actions follow a series of ongoing enforcement efforts. On August 23, security campaigns conducted in Farwaniya, Khaitan, and Riggae led to the arrest of 150 people, including 47 individuals with expired residency permits and four people lacking identification documents. These operations demonstrate a consistent increase in field enforcement regarding residency and labor status compliance. Authorities have advised expatriates, including Indian nationals, to ensure their residence permits and work statuses remain valid. Residents are urged to resolve any labor complaints or absconding cases through official channels and to carry valid identification documents at all times. Officials recommend utilizing the services of the Ministry of Interior, the Public Authority for Manpower, and relevant embassies rather than relying on informal agents for matters regarding sponsorship transfers, job changes, or residence renewals.
