Oman and Bangladesh formally signed an agreement on 15 September 2026 to facilitate the recruitment of 10,000 Bangladeshi nationals to address labour needs within the agricultural and fishery sectors.

An official Omani team is
scheduled to visit Bangladesh next month to finalise implementation details, including specific quotas and employment contracts, in coordination with the Bangladeshi Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. In addition to this recruitment, Dhaka is actively requesting that Muscat restore standard work-visa processing, which has faced restrictions for several categories in recent years.

Omanisation policy, which prioritizes local workers in various government and private sectors, while maintaining a demand for specialised seasonal labour. Reports of this agreement were initially published by Muscat Daily and Bangladeshi state media, including BSS, between 9 and 14 September 2026.
