Under current UAE traffic regulations, drivers who fail to maintain a safe distance face a Dh400 fine and four black points on their driving license. This penalty applies to both car drivers and motorcycle riders, with police noting the specific risks faced by delivery riders navigating high-traffic corridors like Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Ittihad Road.

Additionally, the National Centre of Meteorology forecast for September 12, 2026, warns of potential fog and mist across coastal and inland areas from Saturday night to Sunday morning. Drivers are advised to increase their following distance during low-visibility conditions.
