One Dubai-based construction worker told the Times of India that the extended delay created complications with their employer, while another passenger opted to book a separate flight via Mumbai to attend a 10:00 a.m. business meeting in Dubai. SpiceJet clarified that because the delay was due to operational factors beyond its direct control—specifically ATC constraints—it constitutes a situation where flight sequencing takes precedence over original schedules. This incident follows similar delays on the same route on August 26, where a four-hour delay occurred, and a series of disruptions reported by the Indian Express since late July.
Under the Ministry of Civil Aviation's Passenger Charter, travelers affected by such disruptions may be entitled to meals, refreshments, or hotel accommodation depending on the circumstances, though fixed cash compensation is not automatic for delays caused by factors like ATC congestion.
