SpiceJet Pune-Dubai Flight Faces Major Delays And Cancellations

SpiceJet's daily flight SG51 from Pune to Dubai has faced significant operational disruptions over the past week, with travelers reporting two cancellations and multiple delays exceeding 11 hours.

  • As of September 5, 2026, the flight remains scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. departure from Pune, arriving in Dubai at 10:55 p.m. local time.
  • However, due to ongoing instability, passengers are advised to verify their flight status before departing for the airport.
  • A report by The Indian Express on September 4 highlighted that flights on August 30 and September 1 were canceled, with additional delays noted after August 28.

Flight Delay Details And Passenger Challenges

In one instance, a flight delayed by over 11 hours departed in the morning, while another scheduled for 9:00 p.m. eventually left at 4:18 a.m. the following day, arriving in Dubai at 5:23 a.m. Passengers have cited challenges including long baggage queues and insufficient ground staff. SpiceJet attributed the disruptions to air traffic control congestion in Dubai and en-route, alongside departure-slot constraints at Dubai airport that cause cascading effects on aircraft rotation. On September 2, 2026, SpiceJet’s overall On-Time Performance was 41.70%, compared to 93.10% for IndiGo, 92.63% for Air India, and 83.68% for Air India Express.

Passenger Advice And Rights

Passengers are advised to monitor the official SpiceJet website, emails, and SMS alerts. Those traveling for work are encouraged to secure documentary proof of delays to present to employers. In accordance with SpiceJet’s passenger rights policy, the airline is required to provide refreshments for delays over two hours and meals for delays exceeding four hours. In cases of cancellation or significant postponement of at least 120 minutes, passengers may be eligible for alternate flights or full refunds, subject to conditions.

Grievance Redressal And Contacts

For grievances, travelers may contact SpiceJet at +91-124-4983410 or +91-124-7101600. If issues remain unresolved, complaints can be lodged via the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s AirSewa portal. Passengers with onward connections are cautioned to verify their status immediately to manage potential risks to their travel plans.
